How to read a COA
A Certificate of Analysis reports a batch's measured properties against the grade specification.
A COA identifies the producer, grade, lot/batch number, production date and the testing standard used (e.g. ISO 2000 or ASTM D5900). Its core is a table of measured values.
For a TSR 20 grade you should see dirt content, ash content, nitrogen, volatile matter, initial plasticity (Po) and PRI. Compare each measured value to the specification limit: dirt/ash/nitrogen/volatile matter are maximums, while Po and PRI are minimums.
If every parameter is within its limit, the batch conforms. Any value breaching a limit is a non-conformance and should be raised with the supplier before shipment or acceptance.
