How to import natural rubber
The end-to-end path from sourcing a grade to clearing a container of TSR bales.
Start by fixing the grade and specification (e.g. SMR 20, PRI ≥ 40) and agreeing an Incoterm — most spot rubber trades FOB or CIF. Packaging is typically shrink-wrapped bales of 33.3 or 35 kg on pallets; a 20-foot container carries roughly 20 metric tons.
Agree payment terms (often a letter of credit for new relationships), request a pre-shipment COA and, for larger lots, an independent inspection. Confirm the HS code and any import duty for your country.
Plan lead times: Southeast-Asian origins to most destinations run several weeks door-to-door once shipped. Track the vessel, prepare customs documents in advance, and reconcile the delivered COA against your purchase specification on arrival.
